REVIEW: At the Edge of Surrender by AL Jackson – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Surprise single dad, small town romance…
Kane helps out a woman at one of his bars when she’s being harassed by a guy who just won’t take a hint. He finds an immediate connection with Emery. They share a steamy moment but figure they’ll never see each other again. Especially when he never even got the chance to share his name with her.
So imagine his surprise when she shows up on his front porch and then immediately runs away after looking just as surprised when he opens the door. He tracks her down to make sure she’s not in trouble and looking for help from Sovereign Sanctum. Turns out she’s there to tell him he has a daughter he never knew about. She learned about him because of the letter she found after her sister’s death, naming him as the father.
While they all juggle the situation of bringing his daughter into his loud, loyal, and tatted up found family, they also struggle to deal with their intense chemistry together. As more details come out about Emery’s past trauma, her sister’s information digging, and Kane’s past bad boy ways, it’s clear there’s more going on. Emery is in danger and Kane is ready to step up and protect the two girls he now cares most for in his world.
I just loved this new addition to the Moonlit Ridge found family. They are so great together. And his little girl, Maci, is just a adorable as little Nolan. This series is so good with all the steamy couples, loving family moments, mixed with dangerous suspense and I can’t wait for the next one.
REVIEW: Axel by Kelly Finley – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Killer Covered in Ink & Kittens…
I’ve been so excited for Axel’s story since we first met him in Halloween for Six and once again Kelly did not let us down. You can’t help but fall for him when he’s all sexy and tatted and covered in cute kittens.
When Axel isn’t handling his not-mafia-mafia business with his brothers, he disguises his tattoos and killer instincts in a suit while working as a high-powered lawyer. And Ruby is his super sassy paralegal who is amazing at her job with great private investigator instincts. Their hilarious banter is just everything.
He’s obsessed and loves to stalk her. And she’s right there to stalk him back for longer than he ever realized. Her spying is how she discovers he’s not just a hot lawyer but and ex-Bratva prince in hiding. He works alongside his brothers to defend those who can’t defend themselves and take out the trash of the world.
But Ruby knowing the truth puts her in danger. He’s determined to keep her close for her own protection and so all that fiery hate she shows towards him will turn into love like he has for her. Let’s not forget about the mama kitty he rescues, so now they’re pet parents together. Love it! He’s ready to finally show her what it means to be his queen. And he’s ready for her to wear his collar and sit on her thrown beside his.
I absolutely loved Nash and Vale from the first book in this series. Now I think I love Axel and Ruby even more. Makes me wonder what the rest of the couples in this family will end up like. This whole world is so good. Super steamy and funny, romantic and sweet, fierce and empowering, all mixed in with action and mystery too. Fantastic!! I’m ready for the next one ASAP!
REVIEW: Claimed by Daddy by JL Quick – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great start to a new series…
Enzo is one of three mafia princes ready to take over and combine their rival families into one new powerful organization. They were supposed to be rivals like their families wanted but instead they grew up as secret friends and brothers. Now they will rule as Kings and won’t let anyone stand in their way. Italian, Irish, and Bratva united as one under their rule.
The one thing Enzo didn’t plan for was his best friend’s little sister Eavan. When she’s brought into their home and under their protection, he’s immediately drawn to her. Eavan’s brother brought her in to save her from what his father had planned for her. But Enzo can’t deny his need to protect and discipline her. He wants to claim her as his own even if it means losing his best friend and everything he’s fought for.
Eavan quickly becomes just as obsessed with Enzo as he is with her. Their chemistry and relationship intensifies fast. She’s happy to let him protect and take care of her when part of the guys’ plans don’t work out like they hoped, putting her in danger. Enzo will stop at nothing to keep her safe.
The steam, romance, and all around dynamic between these two was so good. Such a great start to a new series. I can’t wait to see what happens with the other guys next.
REVIEW: Dirty Little Sinner by Samantha Barrett – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Spice at the Circus After Dark…
Maddison finds herself in jail again after her loser mother set her up… again. Her stepbrother shows up to bail her out. Now she’s back in the home she ran from after her mom left. She’s forced to face the feelings she ran from. The attraction she felt for her stepbrother, stepfather, and the unrelated uncle that’s really just the sexy family friend.
She’s hooked up with her stepbrother Cameron in the past. But after she got caught in a situation with his dad Derek, she ran from it all. They’ve all been fighting their feelings – theirs for her and hers for them. Now that she’s back the guys are ready to go after what they all clearly want. And they’re determined to convince her she belongs there with them.
The best way to start is with a little chase. So they pull on some twisted masks and chase her through their family circus after hours just the way she likes it. Get ready for a quick and spicy, dark and dirty read. Oh and let’s not forget her protective lion as a bonus – this is the circus after all.
REVIEW: Nocturnal Shadows by Melanie Gurenko – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 🔥🔥🔥
Finding your soulmate across realms…
Dina loves escaping into her dreams to get away from the monotony and “mean girl” vibes from those she works around as an archivist in Minnesota. One night her dreams take her to the world of Nadiraan but it feels more real than any dream she’s had before. That’s where she meets Quirin when he rescues her from a pack of wolves.
Note to self… don’t try to pet wolves in your dreams just in case.
The more she visits Quirin’s world of Nadiraan the more she learns about it and the more she longs to stay there. He’s the king’s general and she wants to stand by his side to abolish the slavery and injustices he fights against. Dina finds herself drawn to him on a deeper level. However she can’t explain or ignore how much she’s also drawn to his close best friend Marian who fights alongside him.
As Dina goes back and forth between her world and theirs, she discovers there’s more to her connection to Quirin than she ever thought. The mystery and legend behind soulwalkers is something rare and special. But Quirin also has special gifts of his own.
Together they must prepare for the war ahead and determine what their future could look like. Trauma from their pasts make things harder but determination, loyalty, and love is what keeps them going.
I loved this story and the connections between Quirin, Dina, and Marian. The twists and turns, emotional connections, and just the whole world building was great. Be prepared for a shocking cliffhanger that will leave you stunned and craving for the next book.
REVIEW: Sins of the Hidden by Juniper Nyx – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dark trauma & healing…
V and Oakley are total opposites to the extreme but in the end they’re perfect for each other. She’s short and sweet, quite and shy, baking cookies and keeping to herself most of the time. He’s super tall and psychotic, morally black and more than a bit unhinged, obsessively stalking her, and protective to the highest degree.
As the club’s enforcer even his MC brothers are a bit terrified of him and his bloody bat. Oakley is the only who’s ever really made V feel something. He’s not willing to let her go even if that means forcing marriage vows right as they start turning a corner on trust. They both have past traumas to work through. He can’t feel pain and can’t understand emotions. She’s the only one who can calm him and teach him what love really is.
Together they work on healing and building a future together. It’s definitely not an easy journey for these two but it’s worth it in the end. They’re so different and yet so perfect at the same time. Be prepared that this book gets very dark at times.
