So good!

This was my first book from this author, and I absolutely loved it. It was so good. I could really relate to a lot of personal things with Carolina. But her life was so hard and she had so much she was dealing with. She was such a strong character, determined to do whatever it took to make a better life for her and her younger sister. She had a hard time opening up to others around her and dealing with her new group of friends that really cared about her. The relationship dynamics between her and Josh, between Clay and Xander, and then between all of them as a whole was a great balance. But oh that cliff hanger at the end! I can’t wait for the next book. I have to know what their story is going!

Absolutely love these characters…

This book picks up right where we left off in book one. The relationships individually and as a whole unit continue to grow and build. Each of these characters went through their own struggles to figure out how they really all fit together as one big amazing family. I really felt for all of them throughout the journey. Lina went through more than anyone ever should. It really felt like each brought something different to their dynamic that made them all fit together like the perfect romantic, steamy puzzle. The mystery behind what really happened to Lina’s parents finally gets unraveled so the girls can have closure. And we can’t forget about Howie! Even though everything with the story is all tied up with no lose ends, I loved these characters so much that I can’t help wanting more. Fingers crossed we get even just a little novella (or two) somewhere down the line. Just occasionally pop back into their lives maybe. Great story!

Please can I have another…

Honestly I don’t think I can say enough about how much I love Blake’s books. I’m so glad I found her!! I’ve been looking forward to this duet from the moment I first heard about it. And I was not disappointed at all. This book was so good and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Sloane has traveled across the country to fulfil the road trip plan she had with her grandmother and to scatter her ashes into the ocean. She’s living in her beat up van (Van-essa) that she’s worked so hard to keep going. She’s dealing with the grief of losing the one person who meant the most to her. All while facing the dilemma of how to cope with what makes her special. The gift she shared with her grandmother. And the gift that felt like a curse when it turned her life upside down. The gift of being able to communicate with those who have passed on but have unfinished business.

Now she finds herself in a new town, facing new challenges over and over again. One thing that makes it easier is the new friends she finds in her boss/co-worker and her husband. The other is in the form of the Jones brothers. She connects with each of them in different meaningful ways even when it’s not easy. Don’t let me forget to mention that one of those four brothers is in spirit form. Yup! Is Saylor my favorite brother? Maybe… His corny pickup lines and just overall everything is perfect.

But when it comes to being able to see and interact with those on the other side, it has a tendency to complicate relationships with the living at some point or another. I have to read the next book as soon as possible. I have theories. I have feelings. I need more!

A roller coaster of emotions…

In this continuation we get to see how Sloan and the guys deal with the aftermath of how things went down at the end of the first book. The Jones brothers have a lot to make up for after how they treated Sloan when she finally got the courage to reveal her gift of speaking to those who have died. They realize how terribly they reacted and the groveling begins. And Saylor stays loyal to her the entire time no matter what.

Once more of Sloan’s past comes to light, the guys get a better understanding of just how badly their actions hurt her. Luckily Sloan’s new friends grow even more into her found family and have her back. Even if that means banning the brothers from the bar until they can get their acts together. We also learn more about Saylor’s accident and how that affected not only him but everyone around him.

This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. It’s a story of love, family, growth, redemption, loyalty, and never giving up on the ones you care about. I absolutely loved this book and this duet as a whole. Everything, just everything! … Even if I did have my moments of wanting to rant at not only the guys but Blake too at least a couple times. So great! Definitely a must-read.
