Book Journal With Me

November 2024 Reading List

For those of you fellow book lovers looking to dive into my own reading list I’ve got something for you. I’ve been adding my monthly reading lists to the Library section of the blog with links to grab the books on Amazon. Most are on Kindle Unlimited (link included) since I’m completely in love with that subscription and it saves me money with the crazy amount of books I read. November’s list is officially updated. I’ll work my way through some of the other months as I have time.

WARNING – The books I read are definitely NOT FOR EVERYONE. Please read any and all descriptions and warnings before starting any of these books. Some of them are very dark and honestly most are pretty smutty. And no judging please! To each their own and all that jazz.

I’ve also been creating book lists organized by authors that I love reading. These lists will be growing bit by bit as I get them caught up. So be sure to keep checking back. CLICK HERE to browse my author list.

Standalone Connected to Callahan Billionaires series

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Snowed in but still steamy…

We first met the Kemp twins in By His Rule from the Callahan Billionaires series. Now Hendrix and Wilder along with Noelle are all grown up and attending college. When it comes time for winter break Hendrix and Noelle have plans for a relaxing best friend get away to a snowy Canadian cabin. At literally the last minute Wilder jumps in the car with them when his party plans get derailed.

Hendrix and Noelle secretly want more but at the same time don’t want to ruin their friendship. Tensions are high with Noelle and Wilder sharing a secret that could rock the boat even more. When the three of them get snowed in to their remote cabin, they can really only hide so much. It makes for the perfect opportunity to explore their true feelings and more.

This was a great spicy holiday read. And I loved seeing these three again. Be prepared for lots of fun and heat to keep you warm this winter. There was plenty of chemistry and emotional connections while these three figured out where everyone stood and what they were willing to risk. Great read!

Celestials of Arcadia: Insurgency #1

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely amazing!!!

I fell in love with this world when reading A Touch of Gold and Madness and this first prequel novel has just made me love it more. You definitely want to read ATOGAM first to get the most out of this one. As you read you’ll start putting all the puzzle pieces together to get a better picture of what happened leading up to Devolution Day. This definitely won’t answer all your questions just yet and it will even leave you with more. But that’s ok!

This first prequel in the trilogy is set 10 years before ATOGAM when our beloved main characters are in their teen years. You’ll get more insights into characters we saw in ATOGAM and see connections that we didn’t know existed. And just because they are teens does not mean this is a YA novel. There are some heavy topics discussed so check those warnings.

Even knowing that some events were most likely going to happen in this book because of reading ATOGAM first, it comes down to the how and why that just pulls you in. This book was such a rollercoaster journey of emotions. It had me feeling all the happiness, rage, hope, and utter heartbreak that I knew was heading my way. I’m purposely not giving away details so you can experience it all for yourself. And you need to because this is a must-read. I already know this will be a world I will binge read again in the future.

The Jacksonville Rays #0.5

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

(Listened to as part of the audiobook for book 1)

“Seattle is our place.”

Rachel is just trying to enjoy a drink at the hotel bar while she drowns her feelings over the loss of the sport medicine fellowship position she’s lost. Unfortunately an annoying Chad won’t leave her alone. Imagine her surprise when a sexy stranger comes to the rescue by pretending to be her brother.

She has instant chemistry with Jackson as they hangout and talk about this and that. They decide for just one night to explore that connection. No names, few clues, and no future expectations. Things get steamy up in her hotel room. Even though they both know their connection won’t go beyond that night they both feel something more.

The question is will they really be able to stay away. Are they meant to meet again? One can only hope because these two were on fire together.

Sigma Sin #2

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Declan and Teal…

Both Declan and Teal are troubled artists in their own ways. Declan is dealing with secrets and betrayals that have recently come to light and he’s ready to clean house, get answers, and seek vengeance. Teal is struggling with her mental health, a haunting past, and her own will to keep holding on. These two have grown up together in the same social circles but have been enemies for the most part.

When Teal finds out her father is planning to hand her off in an arranged marriage she doesn’t want, she reluctantly makes a deal with Declan in the form of a fake relationship to put a hold on those plans. But Declan knows more than he’s letting on. He’s got plans and schemes of his own working in the background. Declan also realizes he wants more from Teal.

Declan is convinced that Teal’s buried memories from three years ago hold answers that he needs. But since whatever happened that night lead to Teal spending time in the psych ward, she’s not as eager to dive into reliving the past. So much is happening behind the scenes. And the more time Declan and Teal spend together the less fake everything starts to feel.

Declan is definitely more monster than hero, but he’s Teal’s monster. He won’t let anything stand in his way of him taking control and setting things right. These two just work even when they’re not ready to admit it. I loved these two together and the journey they went on to get to what was meant to be all along.

Stapled Magnolias #2

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cody and Liem…

We first met Cody and Liem in Lane’s debut novel Lady Luck (so good btw). That’s also where we fell in love with them as side characters and needed to know more. I certainly know I wasn’t the only one rooting for them to get together even then. So imagine my happiness when Lane decided to expand this world she created into more.

In book two of Stapled Magnolias we get to see more of how Cody and Liem first connected and how their story evolves into more. I’m all for a super spicy romance read but there’s definitely something to be said about a sweet slow burn journey like this one. All the sweet secret looks, stolen moments, and that good get-to-know-you build-up. Loved it!

Cody is back in town after a breakup. He’s home but still feeling a bit left out of the found family his best friend Bree has built around her. He’s trying to find his footing with his dad and find direction for his future. And he can’t help but be curious about the guy he met through his online class that’s also his best friend’s brother.

Liem is dealing with some residual trauma after the incident with Bree. He’s working through his emotions and finding his groove through his art. And he’s just as curious about Cody. Liem is this calming presence for everyone while also bringing that loveable lighthearted fun.

I loved these two just as much as I loved Bree and Vinh. I definitely recommend this world if you’re looking for that warm, feel-good type of romance. I want more. Like maybe Cody’s dad or maybe even Ace needs a redemption love story too. Hint hint, Lane!

Coded Connections #2

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Team Tetra!!

Amelia is reeling from the betrayal by the guys and she’s back in a place she never wanted to return to, her former London home. She’s once again dealing with a family that just doesn’t get her and wants to push her into a box of their design. And not only that, now they want to arrange a marriage for her that suits their own interests.

Oliver, Misha, and Grey are determined to make things right with Amelia. Even if that means chasing her to London and begging her forgiveness. They want to prove just how much she means to them and that she has a real home back in Seattle with them. But Amelia is torn between loyalty to her brother and doing something that truly makes her happy.

Along the way they continue to dig for answers to what really happened with her missing tech. And they work on figuring out how this new dynamic between them all works. Their journey is not easy or smooth sailing. They all have to figure out what’s right for them and what they really want.

I absolutely loved this story of Amelia and her men. The whole tech concept behind everything is just so cool. And I totally want some little neon tetras for myself now. This is another great duet from Blake and I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve for us next.

Second Sons #1

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

Lies, Betrayal, and Vengeance…

Vesper has known from an early age that her role in their mafia family was to be married off to someone to further their family line and seal an alliance. So when she turns eighteen her father’s plans kick into high gear at a fast pace. But then comes along the twin cousins to the man she’s arranged to marry with a plan to get her out. Only everything goes wrong and she’s taken captive for two years and forced to endure horrors she could never imagine.

When her captors feel her usefulness has come to an end, she’s set to be sold at auction. The twins Oscar and Zaire have not given up their search for her, so they are determined with a plan using the Second Sons family they’ve built. The are the highest bidders in order to get her back.

Now they are ready to seek out vengeance and get revenge for the wrongs done to Vesper. They will do whatever it takes to get back what was stolen from her and take down those who thought to underestimate them. Along the way they grow closer to each other, building a bond that can’t be broken.

I really loved this story and it’s characters. There are layers to the twisted lies, secrets, and betrayals that I never saw coming. My biggest critique is that at one point it felt like there was a whole chapter missing with the build up to a D/s dynamic between Vesper and Zaire. It felt like it was just glossed over with assumed off screen moments that felt like they were missing. At least that’s the case for the early version I read. And there were a few overused and/or repetitive lines that started to bug me, especially towards the end. But with all that said, the story and the spice was really good and I look forward to the second book in this new series.

Shadowed Souls #2

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Secrets, Lies, Twists, and Spice…

Book two picks up right where we left off after Forged by Shadows. Avery, Wyatt, and the guys are all still reeling from their recent discoveries dealing with their families and their pasts. But really that’s only the beginning. There is so much more hidden and more to learn.

Wyatt has separated himself from their group and he seems to be on a mission of self-destruction. He finds himself in trouble that leads him down a path of discovery with truths and betrayals that have been buried for years. He struggles with finding himself and his place all over again.

Avery and the guys face their own struggles with all the secrets, lies, and new revelations. They are torn between searching for Wyatt who left them, dealing with threats lurking in the shadows, and struggling with their own hidden demons.

But eventually the danger posed brings them all back together and tensions run high. The threat of Avery’s father trying to find her, the stalker a constant presence in her life, the ever evolving relationships within their found family dynamic, and the need to get back to their regular college lives after the break makes for quite the journey.

The second book in this series did not disappoint. I love the Shadowed Souls and all their beauty and flaws. They each fit together in a steamy puzzle that’s built on their strong and very real feelings for each other. Get ready for some heavy topics, twists and turns, and plenty of spice. Plus the cliffy at the end that will leave you wanting more. I can’t wait for the next book.
