Book Journal With Me

September 2024 Reading List

For those of you fellow book lovers looking to dive into my own reading list I’ve got something for you. I’ve been adding my monthly reading lists to the Library section of the blog with links to grab the books on Amazon. Most are on Kindle Unlimited (link included) since I’m completely in love with that subscription and it saves me money with the crazy amount of books I read. September’s list is officially updated. I’ll work my way through some of the other months as I have time.

WARNING – The books I read are definitely NOT FOR EVERYONE. Please read any and all descriptions and warnings before starting any of these books. Some of them are very dark and honestly most are pretty smutty. And no judging please! To each their own and all that jazz.

I’ve also been creating book lists organized by authors that I love reading. These lists will be growing bit by bit as I get them caught up. So be sure to keep checking back. CLICK HERE to browse my author list.

Most of these shown can be found on Kindle Unlimited or through an author mailing list.

A Court of Thorns & Roses #2 (Part One)

(Part Two)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Even better than book one…

Book two in this series picks up right where we left off. Everyone is trying to adjust and find their new normal after everything happened Under the Mountain with Amarantha. Our dear Feyre is most definitely dealing with some PTSD. She’s struggling with nightmares and flashbacks of what all she was forced to face and do in order to save the lives of the fae.

Feyre is losing herself while her wedding and life with Tamlin is being planned around her. On the day of the ceremony Rhysand appears and takes her away to uphold the bargain they made. She is torn between two different courts, the politics, and the men who rule them, each with their own agendas.

As time goes on she learns more about this fae world that is now her home. The effects of what happened Under the Mountain to save her are starting to make themselves known. She’s no longer the simple human girl she once was. Now she has the form and abilities of the High Fae. She must learn to adapt and figure out how to use her newfound powers.

Feyre discovers more about the history of those in this found family she’s become a part of. They must work together to fight against those who seek power regardless of what it means for the innocent fae of their world. Their journey is not easy and they face not only danger but doubt and betrayal.

I don’t want to give too much away but I will say the spice definitely steps up a few notches. And be prepared for several surprising twists and turns and maybe a few tears as well. I’m absolutely hooked on this series and can’t wait to dive into the next book.

+ Bonus Epilogue

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Funny, spicy, plus all the feels…

Three hot couples come together for a little holiday getaway on a superyacht cruise to say goodbye to the year and welcome in a new year. These husbands and wives, friends and lovers have history that in some cases go back to their childhood but a few of them even work together now. This is their chance to take a break and have some naughty good fun with a gift to open each night of the cruise to spark a little spicy fun.

These couples are so hilarious together along with all their spice. You get some will they, won’t they moments. And it’s not just about all the amazing spice they create together but also about the emotional connections they have with each other.

There are bits and pieces about their pasts and how each couple came to be that really makes you want to know more about their specific stories. So even if you haven’t read those books in this interconnected world you won’t be left with the lost feeling. Instead it just makes you want to dive in more. But this book in the Kelly Finley bookverse lets you see how these couples really become THE SIX.

I absolutely loved this blend of comedy, romance, spice, and emotional connections. I want to make sure I check off every single book in the bookverse from my TBR list. At this point in my reading I’ve read everything after this one, so now I’m looking forward to going back and reading how it all began.

Godfathers of the Night #2

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cronos and Amelia

Cronos has separated from his family’s criminal lifestyle to find something of his own. He’s created a life so vastly different from anything he’s had before. Amelia has also been trying to separate herself from her family name for years. She has finally been released from family obligation to go after the freedom she’s always tried to hold on to. But their situations have worked out very differently.

It turns out that the guy Amelia got caught up with in college was not what he seemed. Now he’s back in her life and all she wants to do is get away from him. That drives her to search out Cronos. They had a connection that we saw hints at in the last book. She goes to him for safety, protection, and to hide, but can’t help but wonder what could be.

Even though there’s a ten year age difference between Amelia and Cronos, he’s been through enough in his life that it doesn’t matter. He’s wise beyond his years. And even though she hurt him when she pushed him away before, he can’t help how he feels for her.

More secrets are unraveled and danger is coming. Amelia and Cronos have to decide what they really want and what they’re willing to do to make it happen. And Amelia must face the truth of what really happened years ago that unknowingly started a chain of events. She must decide whether or not she can face the family that she desperately fought to be free of.

This book was so good. I was really looking forward to Cronos and Amelia’s story and Samantha did not disappoint. And I loved seeing all the different interconnected families in this world make a reappearance in one way or another. I’m definitely not ready to let this bookverse go yet so I hope we get more.

A Court of Thorns & Roses #3 (Part One)

(Part Two)

(Part Three)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It just keeps getting better…

Feyre is back in the Spring Court playing a part while also acting as a spy. She’s gathering intel on the king’s plans and figuring out who and what to trust.

Battles, challenges, deceit, and betrayal are everywhere. But through it all there’s also love, family, loyalty, and strength. Feyre and Rhysand have to decide who can be trusted to fight with them for what’s right. The relationships between Feyre and her new found family along with relationships with her sisters and those around them are growing and evolving.

There’s so much more to these characters and this world. Everything continues to build on it all. You get so connected to these characters for sure. So much happens in this book. It is intense. This series just keeps getting better and better. This journey takes you on a roller coaster of nonstop action and emotion. It was so good. I’m ready for the next one.

KORT #3

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Falling more and more in love with this series…

Ty has been one of my favorite characters in this series from the very beginning, so I was super excited to learn more of his backstory. And Brandy did not disappoint. Ty and Rena’s journey just made me fall even more in love with this series and this amazing world Brandy is creating.

As one of the top officials in KORT, Ty leads a dangerous life. That is just one of the excuses he makes for keeping his distance from Rena. It’s clear to everyone in his found family that he has feelings for the young Noire princess. But his tortured past is another reason he doesn’t want to make a move and bring Rena into his dark world.

Rena has had a major crush on Ty for years and has been secretly hoping he will one day finally make his move. After a moment of vulnerability from Ty, she starts to wonder if the attraction is not one sided after all. But when she discovers secrets that rock her foundations, she makes a run for it to get some space.

Ty is desperate to find Rena and keep her safe. When she drops some clues he’s ready to chase her no matter what. The danger in their interconnected worlds can no longer be avoided and decisions have to be made fast. Those decisions set things in motion that can’t be stopped. It’s a fight to prove themselves and a fight to stay alive.

Every time I think I know who my favorite couple in this series is Brandy throws me for a loop. So I’m refusing to choose. I loved Ty and Rena’s story so much. They fought their attraction for so long and deserved to be happy and heal. That’s exactly what they do for each other in their own special ways. I love this whole found family and their crazy, fun, and slightly twisted but fiercely loyal and protective dynamic. I just want more and more.

Curse of the Fae #2

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lori and Elio

Book two in the Curse of the Fae series picks up right from where we ended things in book one. Lori is recovering from her near death experience and still dealing with a bit of residual trauma. Seth, a fae prince of the Spring court, comes to her with a deal that could be the only chance to save her brother’s life.

Since she appears to be the doppelganger of the Winter King’s deceased first wife, Seth wants to use that to shake things up in the Winter court. He convinces Lori to participate in the Yule pageant while also acting as a spy for him. The catch is that this pageant is to determine who will be the Winter King’s next queen and those queens always end up dead shortly after the wedding.

Lori realizes there’s more to the story of what happened all those years ago to King Elio’s first wife and everything is shrouded in secrets and mystery. As she competes with other “brides” in the pageant she learns more about the cold-hearted winter king. She starts seeing sides to him that few get the chance to.

Then there’s this whole mystery of why she looks exactly like Elio’s first queen. What does that mean? And strange things seem to be happening in the Winter court, like freak storms and brides deaths. That also includes a series of new visions Lori has of Elio’s deceased wife.

Elio and Lori have a connection whether they want to admit it or not. But if they give in to that, will Lori face the same fate of his previous queens? And if they don’t will Elio remain doomed to continue the cycle

Their story is a fun mix of a reality tv style pageant, mystery and danger, with love and magic beyond their control. I love these two together. Their story doesn’t exactly end in a cliffhanger but it’s clear this is just the beginning for them. I can’t wait to see how the interconnected stories in this series continue in the next book.

A little spook with your spice…

Kelly did it again. THE SIX are back and this time they’re hosting a spooky and spicy Halloween glamping week long get together that no one will be able to forget. Prepare for all the comedy, spice, and emotion that you can always count on from our Queen of Spice.

Each night someone gets the opportunity to play host for some spicy activities for the group. Every night brings a new theme to the party. Throughout the festivities stories are told of the island’s sorted past that brings with it a new spook factor. And Eily has recruited someone to mess with her friends and family that comes with a bit of mystery and possible danger. Be prepared for lots of tricks and yummy treats.

And even with all the laughs and fantastic spice, we still get the real emotional aspects from our beloved couples. Those emotions play into how they handle situations and how situations come about because of those emotions. So you can’t help but love The Six even more. And it’s fun to see other couples and groups from this world together in one place again.

I really love this whole interconnected world. And we get some little teasers along the way that make us wonder what might just be coming next. I can’t wait to find out.

Blackwell Lake #1

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Amazing start to a new series…

During an end of the semester party on the lake things take an unexpected turn. Grayson – the hockey team captain, Micah – the team photographer, and Ava – the figure skater – see something so shocking it leaves them questioning what really happened. And Cruz – the campus bad boy – was there to witness it all. It’s a night they’ll never forget but wish they could.

Now they’re back on campus but it looks like someone out there knows their secret. And that someone is messing with them with no apparent plans to stop. It leaves them wondering just how far they’ll take things.

As they work together to try and figure who’s behind this new threat and what exactly they saw, their whole dynamic starts to shift. There’s a love/hate and push/pull feel to their evolving relationships with each other and as a whole unit. Tensions and emotions are building and so is the chemistry.

Be prepared for a cliffhanger that will leave you checking on that release date for book two. This was a fantastic way to start a new series. It was a great read and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

A Court of Thorns & Roses #4

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Winter Solstice festivities…

Feyre, Rhysand, along with their friends and family are readjusting to life after the epic battles from the last book. Everyone is trying to recover and deal with how things are now. While they rebuild and repair they’re also preparing for and celebrating the Winter Solice.

Feyre is learning about her new family’s years-long traditions. She’s also figuring out where to go from here as the High Lady. So many changes going on. And so many different peeks into the lives of everyone after the chaos of their recent events.

I liked seeing the additional POVs we got with this book. I just wish those other parts would have stuck with the first person perspective like Feyre and Rhysand’s chapters.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A woman who knows what she wants…

Nia is a woman who knows exactly what she wants and refuses to settle for anything less. And what she wants is a real Dominant. She is a strong and determined woman but she is also a submissive looking for that just right D/s relationship. Nia is tired of these men who are pretenders or part-timers. She wants the real thing.

When her new boss enters the picture and looks at her in that way of his, she can’t help but stare back. And with the way Rome presents himself with so many aspects of what Nia sees as the perfect example of a Dom, she can’t help but be drawn to him. She begins to wonder if he’s actually in the lifestyle too.

While Nia is tired of the posers and ready to settle down with the real thing, Rome has a painful past that’s made him not ready or willing to find love again. As these two work together in this new office dynamic they also find themselves exploring a new D/s dynamic as well. They go through some intense scenes but also some intense emotions.

This was my first WS Greer book and I can say it definitely won’t be the last. I loved how real and raw these characters were. Their journey was steamy, sweet, and emotional. Great book!
