Book Journal With Me

February 2024 Reading List

For those of you fellow book lovers looking to dive into my own reading list I’ve got something for you. I’ve been adding my monthly reading lists to the Library section of the blog with links to grab the books on Amazon. Most are on Kindle Unlimited (link included) since I’m completely in love with that subscription and it saves me money with the crazy amount of books I read. February’s list is officially updated. I’ll work my way through some of the other months as I have time.

WARNING – The books I read are definitely NOT FOR EVERYONE. Please read any and all descriptions and warnings before starting any of these books. Some of them are very dark and honestly most are pretty smutty. And no judging please! To each their own and all that jazz.

I’ve also started creating book lists organized by authors that I love reading. These lists will be growing bit by bit as I get them caught up. So be sure to keep checking back. CLICK HERE to browse my author list.

Human Him, Cosmic Her…

I think it’s safe to say that I’m a bit obsessed with this world Krista and Becca have created. Everything in this series is so well thought out, written, and developed. Luna and Donnelly are part of my top favorite couples list in this series. Although don’t actually ask me to rank the couples because that would be way too hard.

This is book three for this couple in this series. They are both still dealing with the ups and downs of Luna’s lost memories after “that night.” And they’re also still dealing with the ups and downs that come along with Donnelly’s troubled family and past. The journey is so emotional and beautiful and just perfect.

I loved so much how the different relationships between not just Luna and Donnelly but between all of their expanded found family developed in this book. I especially loved the evolution of between Donnelly and “Luna’s dad” in this one. Oh Lo!

I’m already looking forward to re-reading in the future. I honestly can’t say enough about how great the Addicted/Calloway/Like Us world is. Luna and Donnelly are just absolutely perfect for each other.

A Valentine’s Day she won’t forget…

Loved this novella so much! The connection between Skye and Silas was perfect. And the connection between Silas and Skye’s “idiot” cat Axi was just adorable.

Skye comes home on Valentine’s Day and catches her boyfriend with her sister. She grabs her fur baby and checks into a hotel. And it’s there at the hotel bar, dressed in a sexy outfit that shows off the curves her now ex tried to make her hide, that she catches the attention of a sexy older man. When her that ex shows up to confront her Silas steps in and takes out the trash.

Skye and Silas’ chemistry is off the charts. There’s a miscommunication that gets straightened out the next morning when she discovers Silas is her boss’ boss. And that boss is trying to frame her for something she didn’t do.

Their story has a mix of romance and spice, mystery and investigation, along with more. I loved how their relationship built throughout the story. Great read!

The Pucking Wrong Series #1

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sweet but psycho…

Monroe had a rough start in life. When things got really bad she took her chances out on her own before things could get any worse. Even after being homeless and starting out in a completely new place, she was determined to make a better life for herself. That meant working hard, getting her GED, and then making it through college.

Her life gets turned all around when texts from a wrong number start becoming the highlights of her day. Things get even more crazy when she discovers those texts are coming from the super hot hockey superstar Lincoln.

Their relationship is a mix of total perfect sweetness and stalker style obsession. So much starts going right for Monroe while also going terribly wrong. She just doesn’t realize at first that while Lincoln is her rescuing hero he’s also the obsessed, possessive, psycho working behind the scenes causing those problems to get her right where he needs her.

Their connection is intense, possessive, romantic, twisted, co-dependent, and totally meant to be. He may be crazy but he’s so totally crazy for her. And even if she doesn’t always want to admit it, she wouldn’t have it any other way. She loves him just the way he is, flaws and all.

I loved this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. So twisted and oh so good!

Wings of Ink #0.5

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great way to start…

Get ready to be introduced to Wolayna and the crew of the Wild Ray, a pirate ship on the hunt for treasure in a magical world. This was a short prequel novella to the new Wings of Ink series but it was packed with a little bit of everything. Great introduction to the world of both humans and magical beings, great characters, action, romance, danger, and more. This gave a build up to what could come next. It leaves you wanting more and on the edge of your seat.

Wings of Ink #1

Ayna and the Crow King…

This was my first full book from Angelina and I absolutely loved it. Loved it! The prequel – Fall of the Wild Ray – started setting up this story and this first book just picks up and runs with it.

Wolayna – Ayna – has been imprisoned for over nine months waiting for her punishment. A punishment that’s been promised to be worse than death. The love of her life and her found family have been ripped away from her, leaving her alone and unsure of what will happen next.

Now she’s been given over to the crow fairies and taken to the dark, and mystical fairylands to be the current bride to the Crow King. All she has to go on are the terrifying stories of the Crow fairies that she’s been told all her life. So much darkness, magic, danger, and secrets surround her. She’s not sure who or what to trust. As she gets to know King Myron and those he keeps close, she begins to wonder how much of what’s happening is not just out of her control but King Myron’s as well.

This story was so epically great. The relationships built along the way. The secrets and mysteries unraveling. The danger and action. The romance that slowly builds and intensifies. This book has it all. The includes and epic cliffhanger that leaves you screaming at your Kindle and demanding the next book.

Reckless #0.5

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A little spice for the holidays…

Lakelyn receives a mysterious invite to an exclusive indulgent holiday party event at Midnight Manor. She believes it’s a mistake and the invite was meant for her twin sister. Since her sister is out of town she convinces her to take a chance and go in her place. But what Lakelyn wasn’t expecting was to catch the attention of the billionaire owner of Midnight Manor.

Adam is determined to bring her fantasies to life while she’s there. Lakelyn tries to convince herself not to fall for him because the fantasy can only last for so long. It becomes all about making the most of the time they have together. But Lakelyn is not the only one keeping secrets. Not everything is as it seems at Midnight Manor.

This novella is a short read packed with plenty of spice and romance. These two are meant for each other no matter how hard they try to fight it. You’ll also find a bit of intrigue and danger sprinkled in.

Soulful Seas #1

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Please can I have another…

Honestly I don’t think I can say enough about how much I love Blake’s books. I’m so glad I found her!! I’ve been looking forward to this duet from the moment I first heard about it. And I was not disappointed at all. This book was so good and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Sloane has traveled across the country to fulfil the road trip plan she had with her grandmother and to scatter her ashes into the ocean. She’s living in her beat up van (Van-essa) that she’s worked so hard to keep going. She’s dealing with the grief of losing the one person who meant the most to her. All while facing the dilemma of how to cope with what makes her special. The gift she shared with her grandmother. And the gift that felt like a curse when it turned her life upside down. The gift of being able to communicate with those who have passed on but have unfinished business.

Now she finds herself in a new town, facing new challenges over and over again. One thing that makes it easier is the new friends she finds in her boss/co-worker and her husband. The other is in the form of the Jones brothers. She connects with each of them in different meaningful ways even when it’s not easy. Don’t let me forget to mention that one of those four brothers is in spirit form. Yup! Is Saylor my favorite brother? Maybe… His corny pickup lines and just overall everything is perfect.

But when it comes to being able to see and interact with those on the other side, it has a tendency to complicate relationships with the living at some point or another. I have to read the next book as soon as possible. I have theories. I have feelings. I need more!

Puck Boys of Brooks University #6

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Are you sure he’s faking it…

Even though Watson is used to girls throwing themselves at him as the goalie for Brooks University’s hockey team, when he finally gets up the nerve to talk to Ryann in their business class, he’s all adorable awkward nerves. She of course blows him off thinking it’s an act and because she’s determined to just focus on school. But when the hockey players are paired up with the ballerina’s for a benefit performance, they have no choice but to get along and make it work.

But here’s the thing… Ryann is not exactly in the states legally. When the truth is discovered by her employer things are set into motion that could mean her being sent back to Canada to what’s left of the life she was desperately trying to get away from. That’s when Watson steps up and suggests they get married to keep her here.

As they try to make it look real in preparation for when an investigation will inevitably happen, their feelings towards each other become less for show and more real. And how can you not swoon when he’s the one to fall first?!

I absolutely love these two together. Their journey is so sweet and cute. And I love how protective they become of each other. Such a great story.

Court High #1

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A girl on a mission…

December (Em) leaves her home behind where she’s been living with her aunt ever since her father bailed and her sister went with him. She uproots her life to join her father because she’s determined to find out what happened to her sister. Even though they lived apart, they always remained close. While everyone seems to believe her sister just up and left for good this time, December knows there has to be more to the story.

Now she’s in a new town, a new home, at a new school, and in what feels like an entirely different world. As she tries to put the pieces together to get the full picture of her sister’s life, she finds more and more that her sister seems to have left out of everything she shared.

That includes her best friend Royal who appears to rule over the school and beyond. He’s part of the elite club known as the Court with its far-reaching influence. Em and Royal start getting closer and not just because of their shared connection to her sister.

I really loved this enemies-to-lovers slow burn. It has secrets, action, romance, spice, and mystery. This book leaves us wanting more with a massive cliffhanger at the end. It’s a great start to the series and I can’t wait to read them all.

Frozen Fate #1

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Oh so twisted and oh so good…

I’m a big Pam Godwin fan so I was fully prepared to read some really twisted stuff at some point in this book. And she certainly didn’t disappoint. This dark romance is not for the faint of heart or for those easy triggered. So needless to say… I absolutely loved this book. And I need the second one ASAP. Like now! Right now!

Frankie is abducted and taken to a remote arctic location. She finds herself trapped in a house with four men, each with plenty of twisted darkness between them. There’s so much to their tragic pasts that overcoming all of it won’t be easy if it’s even possible at all. It comes down to Frankie working with the odds of 1 against 4 or 3 against 1.

They all have to face that fine line between weakness and strength when up against such dark and completely twisted forces. Be prepared for twists, turns, and secrets that you never saw coming.

Oh and as this is the first book in a new series, be prepared for a cliffhanger that will leave you screaming and desperate for more.
